Job Description

As a Senior / Principal Solution Architect you will be highly flexible, adaptable, and able to apply your skills to many different scenarios in support of both our clients and our company’s internal projects. You will be put forward for roles with our clients where you will be required to provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance and direction either individually or leading a team of a multi-discipline team.

Your responsibilities

  • Providing expertise, advice, guidance, and support to clients
  • Consulting with clients to understand and evaluate the “As-Is” system laydown and business processes, and their future requirements, as well as ensuring resolutions are aligned with the clients’ business and budget constraints
  • Presenting complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Preparing and delivering presentations for project teams, management, and customers as appropriate
  • Supporting clients to adopt best practice, implementing evergreen services for maximum business value within their ICT estate
  • Implementing systems thinking to make recommendations for improvements to solutions which meets those requirements
  • Providing expertise relating to the latest technology opportunities which may satisfy solution options
  • Designing solutions and steering them through the end-to-end lifecycle, from capture and design to implementation, test, delivery, and acceptance as well as through life care
  • Developing complex solutions, using knowledge of schematic design, product design, architectural modelling, and prototype testing
  • Providing insights to the DevOps and wider team with regards to specific components of the solution being delivered by generating system diagrams or architectural views to describe the flow of activity
  • Contributing to the development, growth and conduct of the business
  • Contributing to business development activities and the winning of new client contracts

Experience you’ll need

  • Extensive experience with architecture modelling (Archimate, UML etc.)
  • Proven experience analysing and designing Systems Engineering techniques and approaches
  • Expertise in producing solution design artefacts (HLD, LLD etc.)
  • Well versed in defining solution performance metrics and user, system and service requirements
  • Solid understanding of industry best practice in business, enterprise, and solution architecture space
  • Experience defining solution performance metrics and user system and service requirements
  • A track record in producing stakeholder focused models, for example user stories of the solution
  • Expertise in defining the end-to-end test approach and strategy, plans, and test scripts
  • Ability to think outside of the box to implement innovative and effective solutions and adapt quickly to obstacles and changing demands

Essential requirements

  • UK resident and right to work with (or ability to attain) SC vetting status (or higher)
  • At least 7+ years Defence related experience
  • In depth knowledge of Defence ICT systems
  • Experience utilising agile delivery methodologies and processes
  • Willingness to travel to client sites (travel away from office is expensed)

Desirable qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related/equivalent field or suitable work experience
  • Relevant professional accreditation
