We were asked to manage the Design as a Service (DaaS) framework contract on behalf of Atkins' DaaS Delivery Director.
Situation
Atkins was expecting an upsurge in volume of requirements coming out through the framework and briefed us to help reshape their team to adapt and respond to this increase in volume.
The Atkins team was made up of enthusiastic consultants and apprentices who needed leading, managing and coaching so they could develop their skills and deliver a high-quality service to the end client.
In addition, Atkins had a large supply chain in place and relationships that needed to be managed with care to ensure they would continue to work with Atkins in the future.
Task
We provided expertise to act as the Framework Manager and to lead the team to deliver the service.
Action
We carried out an initial assessment of Atkins’ current set-up, made recommendations on what to change, and then started implementing these recommendations. This included direct mentoring, coaching, and training new staff in procurement, client relationship management, supply chain management, management information and prioritisation.
Results
We succeeded in working with and adapting the team to manage a spike in volume of requirements coming out through the framework and successfully placed on contract several million pounds of business with the supply chain. Over that period, the team developed their skills and confidence significantly and delivered a high-quality service to the client.
